When you’re not at work, what’s your favorite pastime?
Most of my time outside of work is reinvested into my immediate family – my spouse, Todd, my kids Leni and Luca, and my fur babies, Dirk and Kemp. Our family loves to experience life through travel, learning new things, practicing healthy habits, and a commitment to enjoying and laughing each day. Early in the morning or late in the evening when the kids are in bed, I engage in professional development activities – healthcare trends, leadership, coaching – or create art with a paintbrush or oil pastel.

What makes your heart sing?
My daughter’s questions, my son’s laughter, my spouse’s support and banter, and continuous personal and professional growth for myself and others. A passion of mine is building high functioning teams through supporting team members, colleagues, and leaders in performing at their highest level while being their authentic and whole selves. Most recently, I completed the Spot Coaching program through Hudson Institute of Coaching and Certified Team Coaching through Scrum Alliance.

What’s your dream vacation spot?
The Adriatic Sea and Balkan Peninsula – Austria, Croatia, and Serbia – with my family. Our days would be spent exploring the city, enjoying the sandy beaches and warm, crystal blue water, and shopping at local farmers markets. Nights would be spent cooking dinner in a rented house, listening to the night sounds of a new country, recounting the day’s events, planning for the next day, and enjoying the opportunity to experience something new as a family.

What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
I am an ex-gymnast and collegiate cheerleader (and coach) who makes my spouse take pictures of me performing handstands in unique places. Also, I have a twin sister who has a Ph.D. Don’t get us started on the state of medicine or mental health.

Which historical figure do you most admire?
Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman in the United States to earn a medical degree. Her passion for creating more opportunities for women in medicine led to her opening an infirmary for women and children and establishing a medical college for women in New York. I would like to hear her story, learn from her failures and successes, and understand how she developed such resiliency in the face of numerous challenges. Additionally, I would appreciate the opportunity to thank her and share with her our current advancements while seeking her thoughts on future improvements.

Which living person would you most like the opportunity to meet?
Brené Brown is a researcher, professor, author, and most importantly a storyteller in human courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy. I would love to discuss leadership, emotional intelligence, interpersonal awareness, and leveraging what we know and do not know about others in developing healthy relationships.

What legacy do you want to leave the world?
I want to leave the world a better place than when I came into it for the next generation.
