The Lighter Side
In getting to know Heidi, we discovered that she admires Mother Teresa, she treasures her family, and she once delighted colleagues by going incognito as Dolly Parton at a hospital Christmas party.
When you’re not at work, what’s your favorite pastime?Exercise, reading, crocheting, and knitting.
What makes your heart sing?
Our family.
What’s your dream vacation spot?
Hawaii. I want to visit the Pearl Harbor memorial sites and the Polynesian Cultural Center and experience the north side of the island.
What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
I lip-synced Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” to our CFO at a hospital Christmas party in the 1980s in full costume. The talk of the hospital for the next few weeks was, “Who was Dolly at the Christmas party?” I did not confess.
Mother Teresa. I had the chance to listen to her speak upon her discharge from our hospital in California in the early 1990s. The feeling in the room was not of this earth. She was a true woman of God that devoted her life to those in need and she inspired me to always look for ways to help others.
Which living person would you most like the opportunity to meet?
I don’t have a desire to meet any particular person. I cherish every new person that comes into my life and all the friends and acquaintances that I have met along my life’s journey.
What legacy do you want to leave the world?
That my life was a life well lived in service to others and that even when there is no peace on earth, there is peace in Christ.
The baby ring my father bought for me when I was born and a hand-made baby dress my mother sewed.
When was the last time you had a good belly laugh?
A week or so ago. My husband is quite funny but his humor is dry. This occurs most often when we are just relaxing in the evening and he will pop off with a random, ridiculous comment that I find hilariously funny. He finally cracks up once he sees that I am reduced to happy tears.
